FAT (Finger Art Tutorial) Tuesday!!

HELLO FELLOW FOLLOWERS!!

LET ME FIRST START OFF BY SAYING I APPRECIATE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!!  I DO NOT TAKE FOR GRANTED THAT YOU CAN BE SURFING OTHER BLOGS OR OTHER POSTS AND SOME OF YOU TAKE THE TIME DAILY TO COME SEE LITTLE OL' ME AND WHAT I HAVE TO SAY FROM DAY TO DAY (WELL MONDAY - FRIDAY ANYWAY).
I SAID ALL OF THAT TO SAY THIS.  THIS HEAT WAVE THAT WE ARE HAVING HERE IN VIRGINIA HAS REALLY TAKEN A TOLL ON ME - I DO NOT DO WELL IN THE HEAT AND THE HUMIDITY ALONE KEEPS THE HEAT INDEX IN THE 100'S, SO, TODAY'S POST WILL BE BENEFICIAL BUT MAINLY IN PICTURES USING ONE FINGER!!  I JUST DID NOT HAVE THE ENERGY TO DO AN ENTIRE HAND FOR DEMONSTRATION PURPOSES, BUT I KNEW I WANTED TO BRING MY AUDIENCE A FAT TUESDAY POST.  I WAS IN BED THE ENTIRE TIME OF THIS PICTURE TAKING - SO I MAKE MY APOLOGIES NOW FOR ANY 'WEIRD' SIGHTINGS YOU MAY SEE THROUGH OUT THIS POST.  AGAIN, I SAY THANK YOU - YOU ALL MEAN SO MUCH TO ME.

OKAY - ON WITH THE SHOW!!

HERE WE ARE AT WEEK 3 WITH MY AU NATURAL NAILS WITH MY BIOTIN AND PRENATAL VITAMINS AND WATER DRINKING (REMEMBER - THEY WERE DOWN TO THE QUICK JUST THREE WEEKS AGO!!)
TODAY I AM GOING TO ATTEMPT TO SHOW YOU TWO ALTERNATIVES TO DOING A FRENCH MANICURE.  I PERSONALLY DON'T CARE FOR THE STARK WHITE CHICKLET TYPE OF FRENCH AND I HAVEN'T FOUND A NUDE OR NATURAL NP THAT I LIKE ON MY TIPS WITHOUT MY NAILS LOOKING DIRTY - SO TODAY WE WILL USE A WET N WILD COLOR, GRAPE CRUSH.
I WILL SHOW  YOU TWO WAYS - USING THE FRENCH GUIDES THAT COME IN MOST FRENCH TIP KITS AND A FREE HAND - WHICH IS MY PREFERENCE - BECAUSE I HAVE MORE CONTROL.
FIRST UP IS THE FRENCH GUIDE TUTORIAL.
I ALWAYS START MY FRENCH MANI'S ON A BARE NAIL - REGARDLESS OF THE METHOD I USE, BECAUSE FOR ME - IT MAKES THE FIRST COAT OF THE NP A LITTLE MORE CLEANER TO ME.
I PLACE THE GUIDE DIRECTLY UNDERNEATH THE NATURAL CURVATURE OF MY NAIL AND PRESS FIRMLY.
THEN I TAKE MY NP AND PAINT OVER THE TOP PORTION UNTIL OPAQUE.  I DON'T WAIT FOR IT TO DRY - BUT TRY TO DO NO MORE THAN 2 COATS BECAUSE THE THICKER THE POLISH - THE GOOPIER (ANOTHER MADE UP WORD) IT WILL BE WHEN REMOVING THE GUIDE.
HERE IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE AFTER THE REMOVAL.  YOU MAY OR MAY NOT NEED TO DO SOME CLEAN UP AROUND THE EDGE OF YOUR NAILS DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH HAS BLED UNDER THE GUIDE FROM THE NP.  YOU WANT TO REMOVE THE GUIDE WHILE THE NP IS TACKY WET SO THAT YOU GET A CLEAN REMOVAL AND YOU'RE NOT PULLING DRIED NP OFF WITH THE GUIDE.
AT THIS POINT YOU CAN PUT ON ANY TOP COAT.  I USE THE ORLY FRENCH MANICURE TOP COAT - THAT'S JUST MY PREFERENCE.
ONCE YOU HAVE APPLIED THE TOP COAT YOU CAN STOP THERE, BUT I WENT A STEP FURTHER AND APPLIED A SHEER NP, SAVINA HOLOGRAM WITH GLITTAH TO GIVE IT A NICE CONTRAST.
LOOK AT THE PRETTY GLITTAH!! (HAD TO BLUR IT FOR YA)
NOW TO SHOW YOU THE FREE HAND VERSION.  I LITERALLY START BY PAINTING NP ON MY NAIL TIP UNTIL I HAVE COVERED THE ENTIRE NATURAL CURVE OF MY NAIL.
THEN I USE A BROW BRUSH AND ACETONE TO CLEAN IT UP AND MAKE IT LOOK CLEAN AND FRESH.  (THE BRUSH I USE FOR MY FRENCH CLEAN UP IS ROUNDED NOT FLAT OR ANGLED.)
END RESULT...

AFTER I APPLIED MY TOP COAT, I HAD TO JAZZ IT UP A BIT...

APPLIED ANOTHER TOP COAT - SO THAT MY GLITTAH WOULDN'T SPLATTAH, I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER LEVEL...
YEP, ME DID A KONAD!!  I FEEL SO PROUD!!  I ACTUALLY USED THE SAME WET N WILD GRAPE CRUSH FOR THE FISHNET DESIGN, WHICH IS M57.  INSTEAD OF APPLYING THE FULL PLATE HORIZONTALLY, I TURNED THE STAMPER SO IT WENT ON VERTICALLY, I FIND ROLLING THE STAMPER GAVE ME MORE CONTROL THAN JUST A STRAIGHT DOWN STAMPING MOTION - THEN I JUST DID SOME CLEAN UP AROUND THE EDGES SO THAT IT HAD A VERY CLEAN LOOK.
SO WHAT DO YOU THINK???
WHICH OPTION IS YOUR PREFERENCE?  DO YOU USE EITHER METHOD?  HAVE  YOU BEEN AFRAID TO DO A FRENCH MANI BEFORE NOW?
WELL NOW YOU HAVE BEEN EDUCATED ON THE PROCESS, SO GO FOR THE GUSTO AND GET CREATIVE!!

UNTIL NEXT TIME...HAPPY POLISHING!!
XOXOXOXO

DON'T BE A GHOST - LEAVE ME A POST!!

  2. I am with you on the heat; it's nowhere near that warm here right now and I'm still whining about it.

I love the glittery Savina, and your nails are looking great! I might have to try this biotin thing.

  3. I have really short nails (0-2 mm free tip), so I typically use a nail art brush to create a thin colored tip. Then SH Diamond Strength 05 Diamonds over the whole nail for sparklies. Or if I want a white-ish tip, I use a cosmetic wedge sponge with an off-white and just apply a bit to the tip. I've never seen the Savina brand but I've got to say their hologram with glitter is gorgeous! And I really liked your use of the fishnet stockings look on the nail.

  4. @Pretty - Thanks!! Here's my tip: practice, practice, practice, and practice some more. Even with the guides it's not perfect the first time. You should be able to find the guides at any drugstore sold solo. You'll find your comfort zone!!

@Karen D - Thank you!! It hotter than hell I do believe!! Truth be told, I got the Savina's because I cant find Sinful np!! :-) They seemed pretty interesting, so i got a few different colors. Yeah, the nail board swares by them, so in February I tried them and it was like a wonder drug!! Then I cut them all down.

@Desertnails8 - Thank You! I actually saw it on someone else. Great tip and helpful hint. My nails won't always be this short - I miss my long nails!! :(
